In marking 200 years, the 2017 bicentennial activities will range from indoor events to live entertainment and outdoor festivals.

Stars on Parade

Stars on Parade - The year will include a showcase of the arts which will involve "Stars on Parade" The Bicentennial Beautification Committee will collaborate with Sponsors and regional artists to use their talents for the event and create the parade of Stars.

Beautification Contest

It is our hope that businesses and residents, particularly those throughout the community, will embrace the patriotic theme and decorate store and home fronts for the occasion. The Home/Business decorating contest offers prize money in various categories to both home and businesses. Download the Decorating Contest Form for more information and then fill out the Decorating Application to join in this event.

“Coming Home” will be the theme to start the weeklong celebration beginning Saturday August 12th 2017. We are encouraging former Elizabethville area residents to return home during this time and for locals to host gatherings and encourage participation in the historic celebration throughout the week of August 12th – August 19th 2017.

Lee Greenwood Tickets On Sale

Community Day- Saturday August 12th, 2017

The first day of the Bicentennial week will begin Saturday August the 12th, 2017 at 9 AM with the sounding of horns, sirens and bells as was in 1967. Promptly following at the Upper Dauphin Area High School, Reliance Hose Company #1 of Elizabethville will recognize past members and conduct equipment demonstrations along with a rescue. At 11:30 AM meet us at the Historical Society Building for the opening of the Time Capsule. After this we head over to the Elizabethville Veterans Memorial Park for the opening ceremony. Rock around the Clock as live entertainment plays from Noon until 10:30 PM. Young children can participate in a birthday party celebrating the 200th Birthday of Elizabethville, while the older youth can participate in a Pentathlon competition on the ball field. Meet us at 3:00 p.m on the UDA Legion Ball Field at the Elizabethville Veterans Memorial Park. See the new and old come together as the event kicks off recognizing the members of the Elizabethville Town Baseball team. Then sit back and watch as they play ball!

Baby Parade

Thursday evening, Children 5 years of age and under come join in the celebration of the Elizabethville Bicentennial and participate in the Baby Parade around the Elizabethville Borough Park Baseball Field. Grand Finale Celebration

The 2017 Bicentennial Grand Parade is a pageantry of color and community spirit, complete with music, dignitaries in sports cars and parade floats, and a long-standing tradition of commemorating the towns heritage and founders. The procession will step off at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, Aug. 19th, from the Upper Dauphin High School to Market Street, Market to Broad Street, Left on Broad to Moore Street, Right on Moore Street to Main Street, Right on Main Street to Bender Street, Right on Bender Street to Broad Street, Right on Broad Street to Church Street, Left on Church Street, Church Street to the High School. The evening will conclude with Lee Greenwood performing a concert on the UDA Legion Ball field followed by the Fireworks Finale. Here is a run-down of what you can expect. When you arrive to town, you can park at Rite Screen which is our designated parking area. Shuttle service running in and out of the park will be provided. We will provide handicap parking only in the field lot along Park Street. All other parking will be at Rite Screen. Gates open at 5:30 pm, and Brett Alexander and Friends (The Badlees) will start the night off at 6:30. Seating for the show is general admission, there are no assigned seats. Please bring a lawn chair with you. No alcohol will be allowed in.

Please note: Bag Policy: PERMITTED: Clear one-gallon plastic bags permitted (one bag per person) and wristlet with or without a strap no larger than 4" x 6" x 1 permitted. NOT permitted: Purses/Handbags, Diaper Bags, Backpacks, Brief Cases, Fanny Packs, Camera Bags/BInocular Cases. Tickets will be scanned and Wrist Bands placed on attendees. Tickets will not scan more than once. Security will be provided at the event.

A limited number of tickets are issued for this event. You can purchase yours in advance at the following Bicentennial and Community events until they are sold out. Founders Day, Memorial Day, Elizabethville Area Yard and Craft Day, Celebrate Elizabethville Car Show. Tickets are $20.00 each.
